Courses & Training
All Key Stages
KS 1 & 2 - a wide range of adventurous and challenging activities are offered on residential and day courses, giving support across the curriculum especially in PE, Geography and Science whilst giving children the opportunity to develop their life skills.
KS 3 & 4 - residential and day courses offering outdoor and adventurous activities with the emphasis on developing teamwork and personal and social skills. The aim is to raise students' self esteem and motivation to help raise attainment back in school. Specific programmes can be developed with schools to support initiatives dealing with issues such as social inclusion and under-achievement.
G.C.S.E. & 'A' level - P.E., Geography and Biology fieldwork
College & University Courses
Team building, problem solving and outdoor and adventurous activities are provided to Colleges and Universities. Both day visits and residential programmes can be offered. Specialist staff are also available to support expeditions, field trips and work at the college.
Management Training
Centre staff with expertise in Management Training offer residential and day courses to companies, Local Authority Departments, and colleges for staff training and development. Many schools have found the Centres a useful venue for INSET days.
Educational Visits Co-ordinator (EVC) training for school staff is provided by the the Outdoor Education Advisor, based at Shugborough Outdoor Education Centre.
National Governing Body Awards
The Service has RYA, BOF, BCU & MLTE recognised Centres and can provide a wide range of courses leading to nationally recognised qualifications including training and assessment. These include climbing (CWA & SPA) and hill walking and mountaneering (WGL & ML). For further information on thesecourses contact Standon Bowers OEC.
