Information for Colleges
The Service provides a wide range of courses to College groups both on a residential and a day basis.
The facilities at each site and the expertise of staff allow for the delivery of high quality specialist courses that present a complete package, enhance college-based skills or provide an alternative learning environment for delivering fieldwork or personal and social education.
A wide range of activities are offered including hill and mountain walking, expeditions, canoeing, sailing, climbing and orienteering. Field studies are also well catered for.
Teamwork, personal and social education are well to the fore in all courses and can also be delivered as a specific activity. All courses are individually planned and led by an experienced and professionally qualified team of teachers and instructors who provide a safe and rewarding experience; the Centres are regularly inspected and hold Adventurous Activities Licensing Authority accreditation. Individual sites are British Canoe Union, Royal Yachting Association, Mountain Leader Training England and British Orienteering Federation approved.
Murray House, on the site of Standon Bowers OEC, is particularly suited to smaller groups and offers an independent residential base for up to 20, while Laches Wood OEC provides brand new en-suite accommodation for students and staff and is an ideal location for larger residential groups of young adults.
