Week 8 Summer 09
Primary students in the Study Centre have been using their creative and Literacy skills to write programme notes for the Burton Albion Match Programme. With guidance from the Centre's learning mentors, students worked in pairs to create a report of their experience at the Study Centre including their favourite activities and what they have learned during their time at the Centre. On completion of the articles the Centre Manager has chosen a number of the most outstanding reports, from a high standard of work produced, to be published in the coming match programmes.
To begin the session some children have been using their team skills to challenge each other to a game of rounders. Others have been playing Headbandz which has encouraged the students to ask relevant questions in order to gain enough information to guess who or what the card they were wearing represents.

As a continuation from Week seven Secondary students have been producing comic strips using the Study Centre's new software Comic Life. By importing pictures from the internet or photos from sessions the children have created a comic strip to tell a story. Others have been using the Comic Life to import images and create funny captions to compliment their piece of work.
Warm up activities for the secondary groups have included Who Wants to Be a Millionaire interactive game, in which one of the groups managed to use their excellent team work skills to work together and answer all of the questions correctly reaching the 1 million mark. To celebrate their success the children were all given a prize.
