Staffordshire School Library Service

Description of Service

The Schools' Library Service, a unit within the Children and Lifelong Learning Directorate, provides advice, training, reader development and resources for education and learning. It is a non-profit making, self financing unit and all income is re-invested in the service to schools.

The Service Exists to:

• Provide access to a broad range of up to date, professionally selected learning materials.
• Provide resources to support the National Curriculum.
• Assist education providers in improving literacy.
• Support educators in improving standards.
• Provide a range of training opportunities
• Give children the opportunity to enjoy a wide variety of literature and to encourage reading for pleasure.

Annual loan collections

• Available in quantities to suit your individual needs. Hire fee £2.00 per book per year
• Issued for a maximum period of three years, one third of the total amount held each year can be exchanged for free.  Additional exchanges can be made at the cost of £1.00 per book.

Termly loans   
Pre-packed project boxes (inc. artefacts) £30 per box per term

Thirty curriculum-based books on topics of your choice (maximum 15      books per topic subject to availability) £30 per box per term

Author / themed boxes £25 per box per term

Storysacks £25 per sack per term or £12.50 per half term

Stock may be selected by customers personally at the Schools Library Service Headquarters in Stafford and/or be selected by SLS staff in response to a telephone, online or postal request and delivered to your local public library for collection (This requires a minimum exchange of 20 books).
