I have over 30 years teaching experience, including 2 years as a Headteacher of a two form primary school, 3 years as an Assistant Headteacher, with direct responsibility for teaching, learning and the assessment of pupils learning needs. I left the classroom in 2009 to work directly for the LA responsible for leading and managing the effective delivery of One-to-One Tuition in the LA's primary, first, junior and special schools. I believe children and young people have a right to a good education by experiencing many rich and varied learning opportunities to allow them to reach their full potential both academically and emotionally appropriate to their age, ability and aptitude.
I joined the Elective Home Education Team in May 2011 to support young people and families who elect to educate outside the school setting and I very much look forward to working with them.
In my spare time I attend a local gym, a yoga class and take daily exercise walking my dog. I enjoy reading and regular visits to the theatre and the cinema. Recently I have acquired an interest in gardening and am enjoying watching the fruits of my labours.

I joined Staffordshire LA in September 2008. I moved out of the classroom to work with the Staffordshire 14-19 team as a Senior Advisor and District Co-ordinator for Stafford and East Staffs. Prior to this I spent some 28 years, working as a teacher, with young people in secondary schools in the West Midlands helping them to develop skills for life and enabling them to access the skills and qualifications they need to fulfil their ambitions and aspirations.
In January 2011 I commenced working with the Elective Home Education Team to support young people and their families who elect to be educated outside the school setting. As a pastoral manager and senior leader working with the individual needs of young people, I recognise the importance and value of all learning opportunities. Each of us has our own way of learning and working, recognising this and making the most of this, combines to create the joy of learning. Knowledge and skills enable us to make a real difference, education is key to empowering and equipping our future generations.
When I am off duty I enjoy Sudoku, reading murder mysteries, gardening, cooking and walking. I take Mille, a little Jack Russell, for walks around the village in which I live. My love of travel comes from my love of geography and although I have had the privilege of visiting some amazing places on this planet of ours, I haven't even scratched the surface. Lots to do and see - yet!
