Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs)
This web site is designed to support Newly Qualified Teachers in Staffordshire and to provide Induction Tutors and Co-ordinators with essential documents.
The local authority (LA) is the "Appropriate Body" for all LA maintained schools and non-maintained special schools in the county. Academies, Free schools , colleges of Further Education, Nursery schools and PRUs can choose who they wish to act as the Appropriate Body, in line with statutory guidance.
The Appropriate Body has a role to advise and support schools and NQTs in the induction process, keep records of NQTs, monitor consistency of provision throughout the county, and in the final assessment of NQTs. etc
It is important that you (Tutor, Co-ordinator or NQT) receive regular information through the
e-update to provide further current information and news. If you are about to start work in a Staffordshire school ask for a Username from the school now.
The Appropriate Body's (LA) role includes offering support and guidance to NQTs and their Induction Tutors where issues, queries and concerns are raised. If you need guidance and support at any stage during your Induction Period please do not hesitate to contact us at the earliest opportunity.
Latest news is included below:
ICT Skills Tests
When you appoint an NQT they may have not completed all of their Skills Tests. It is vital that you see documentary evidence that these tests have all been completed as this can affect their status in your school. However, please note that with effect from 1 April 2012, the ICT skills test was removed from the skills test requirements. Trainees who have already commenced their course and have not passed their ICT test will not be required to do so.
