Music
Staffordshire Performing Arts (SPA) is one of the largest and most successful music education services in the country. It provides high quality teaching and musical opportunities to over 22,000 children and young people in Staffordshire schools, seven area Performing Arts Centres and in Regional and County-wide ensembles
Primary and secondary schools can benefit from instrumental and curriculum music teaching for their pupils. Services also provided to help all pupils develop an interest in music include annual 'Primary Live' concerts and a 'wider opportunities' project known as the Key to Music (K2M) programme.
SPA organises seven Performing Arts Centres around the county which provide a wide range of choirs, bands, orchestras and ensembles for pupils in Staffordshire and intend to create a further 22 satellite centres for less advanced pupils. Students who progress are then given the opportunity to audition for Regional Ensembles and attend County Music School Courses.
Throughout the year, the Performing Arts Centres and the County Music School organise concerts and events which are held either locally or at larger venues such as Victoria Hall Hanley, Lichfield Cathedral or even Symphony Hall in Birmingham.
