The Primary National Strategy professional development materials "Excellence and Enjoyment: Learning and Teaching in the Primary Years" provides excellent guidance on the process of setting curricular targets (Ref: Blue module 'Assessment for Learning' p21 Part 2 'Using Curricular Targets'.) In response, we have developed examples of layered targets for reading and writing to support the target setting process in school. These targets follow the 'must, should, could' format now familiar to many schools.
