Principally as a result of the published National Languages Strategy (2002), a major initiative by DCFS/Government is under way to develop the learning and teaching of MFL at Key Stage 2, with the intention of having all pupils entitled - by 2010 - to a full four years of MFL study by the time they are 11 years old.
