Creative RE for younger pupils

Specially for Key Stage 1 activity
Gill Vaisey returned to Staffordshire in January to share creative approaches to RE for Key Stage 1.  Teachers found the day to be very practical and full of good ideas to take back to the classroom.

Religious Education Consultant Gill Vaisey was welcomed back to Staffordshire for her session 'Specially for Key Stage 1'.  Gill's professional development activities focusing on the Early Years Foundation Stage had been well received by Early Years practitioners in previous years, and this was an opportunity for Key Stage 1 colleagues to enjoy her enthusiastic approach and creative ideas.

Gill explored the lives of key religious figures focusing on Christianity and Buddhism, used dressing up, role play and freeze frames to investigate Sikh naming ceremonies and in best RE tradition included eating and drinking in a session on meeting together.

Teachers liked the resources and gained in confidence, experiencing for themselves the strategies to support exciting RE back in the classroom.

Gill will return to the county in 2009 - 2010.  Watch out for dates!
