Schools affected by strike action this week

Industrial action by members of Unison on Wednesday and Thursday (July 16 and 17) means some schools and other county council establishments will be closed or offering a partial service.

Those schools currently known to be affected are:

Schools closed:

  • All Saints First, Church Leigh

  • Ankermoor Primary, Tamworth

  • Endon Hall Primary, Endon

  • Eton Park Junior, Burton

  • Hanbury's Farm Junior, Tamworth

  • Kettlebrook Pupil Referal Unit, Tamworth

  • Merryfields Special, Newcastle

  • Redhill Primary, Cannock

  • Stoneydelph Primary, Tamworth

  • The Coppice Special, Newcastle

  • Alleyne's High School, Stone

  • Wightwick Hall Special, Perton

  • Leek High, Leek

  • Hagley Park Sport College, Rugeley

Partial closure

  • Amington Heath Primary, Tamworth (from 12.10pm-13.10pm only)

  • Dove Bank Primary, Kidsgrove (nursery only on Thursday)

  • Lark Hall Infants, Tamworth (affecting part-time nursery children only)

  • St Mary's Primary, Newcastle (lunchtime and nursery)

John Taylor, Leader of Staffordshire County Council said: "We are trying everything possible to keep disruption of services to the public at a minimum. Every effort is being taken to contact people directly if their services are affected by a closure or a part closure.

He added: "This is a national strike and the county council are not involved in negotiations."
