Staffordshire County Council's SENSS Team does more than you might realise. Across the County, High Schools, Primary Schools, Early Years and Pre-School settings all have universal access to a highly committed specialist workforce focused on supporting the work of staff in educating children with Special Educational Needs.
SENSS helps drive up school attainment, local performance and narrow attainment gaps by working directly with both professionals and children in schools and settings. The Service can be called upon to provide this support in a number of significantly different ways.
Supporting the teaching profession:
As members of the school based teaching profession join and progress through their careers, SENSS is able to support them in their acquisition of specialist knowledge and the development of best practice relating to the teaching and provision for those with Special Educational Needs.
The Service offers:
- Advice, guidance and opportunities for practitioners to professionally reflect through casework focussed involvements
- Consultancy for SLTs and Settings Managers seeking specialist input in order to make a real impact on learning and behaviour based outcomes
- Staff training courses bookable through QLS
- Bespoke school based training for Governors, Teachers, TAs and Mid-day supervisors
