Nursery Admissions - 2010/11
The School Admissions and Transport Service will be co-ordinating admissions into Nursery classes in Staffordshire schools as they done over the last few years and you will shortly be receiving information packs from the team. As usual the Database Q A Team will be assisting them in this process. This year we have already imported a large amount of data from the Early Years Finance Team into our central system. This has meant that we have not had to contact schools asking for data on pupils starting into a reception class for 2010/11. Around 6,000 pupil records were merged into our system in this way.
However, at the moment, there is no way for us to obtain the data on children who wish to enter a nursery class, except to ask schools to provide this data. This year we are hoping that our proposed system will mean less duplication of pupil data which in turn will lead to a more efficient allocation process.
We would like schools to complete an Excel spreadsheet, entering the details of those children whose parents complete an application for a nursery place. This will contain the minimum data which we need to enter a pupil on to our central system. The spreadsheet is available to download below and includes headings for the required fields pre-set into it with examples of data entry.
We would then like schools to email this into the Database Team where this data will then be merged into our central system. In order to send this personal data by email, the file will need to be password protected. There are guidance notes attached below to explain how to carry out this procedure.
Please complete and return the form below by 31st March 2010, which is the date that you should forward all applications to the School Admissions and Transport Team.
