At the heart of the success of our schools and children's services are the people that work every day with children, young people and their families.
Through working in partnership with other agencies, schools are at the heart of integrated children's service delivery and as a result the skills, knowledge and competencies required of the school workforce is changing and developing.
Adoption of a more coherent, long term, strategic approach to school workforce planning and development will help schools more effectively meet the challenges of the future.
In Staffordshire we are working collboratively with partners engaged in the delivery of services to children and young people, in order to promote and support a coherent and strategic approach to the reform, modernisation and development of the whole school workforce.
Our priorities include:
- Translating workforce policy and needs into achievable goals and providing a coherent approach to whole school workforce development, with a focus on locality working.
- Continuously developing and improving the availability and effectiveness of the training and development opportunities on offer to the whole school workforce.
- Helping schools to develop high quality and effective approaches to the performance development of their workforce.
- Providing challenge and support to schools around the reform and modernisation agenda so as to enhance the capacity of schools to lead change.
Here in Staffordshire the Workforce Development Team are working closely with the TDA to ensure schools and settings in Staffordshire are supported through this time of ongoing and rapid change.
