Example Teaching Assistant Policy

As part of the changing role of the Teaching Assistant, some Staffordshire schools are now beginning to develop specific policies to cover the role. Given the different ways of working that exist in our schools it is hard to provide a model policy, so we are making available an example policy devised by Grange Community School.

"This policy was devised by the TAs themselves. After they had been given time to write the policy and we had discussed it together, it was negotiated with the whole staff and agreed by the Governors. The policy is now in place and very useful, it works well because the TAs wrote it and therefore have ownership of it."
