All About You

Employees can be nominated at anytime for any of the following categories:

  • Above and Beyond (Going the extra mile eg Volunteering / Community work)  
  • Innovation and Transformation
  • Outstanding Achievement
  • Working in the community
  • Behind the Scenes
  • Team of the Quarter (large) 10+ team members
  • Team of the Quarter (small) 2 - 10 team members 
  • Leadership
  • External - to recognise anyone who has been put forward for an award externally.

More explanation of the categories can be found here. Categories are reviewed on an annual basis.

The only awards for teams is the Team of the Quarter categories according to the team size. For all the other categories, individual awards can cover up to three people but no more than that.

 

Engineer Deadlines

Winners for each category can be nominated at any time. They will then be entered into the award for the relevant quarter and winners will be chosen on a quarterly basis. Successful winners will then automatically go through to an annual awards final to become overall Staffordshire County Council category award winners. 

This cutoff dates for nominations for 2009/10 are:

Quarter 1 March - June 2009

All nominations to be received by Friday 19 June 2009

Quarter 2 July - September 2009

All nominations to be received by Friday 4 September 2009

Quarter 3 October - December 2009

All nominations to be received by Friday 27 November 2009

Quarter 4 January - March 2010

All nominations to be received by Friday 5 March 2010

 

Office Worker Who can nominate?

Anyone who works for the county council including:

  • Employees and colleagues (within or outside of service areas/teams/directorates)
  • Line Managers

We only accept nominations from internal people only. The scheme will be reviewed in March 2010 to see if we extend this to customers and partners.

The aim of 'All about you' is to recognise employees who have gone that extra mile in the job that they do. Please read this guidance to help you decide if you should nominate someone or not.

Only nominate county council employees below Head of Service and don't nominate your partner or a family member. Please only nominate people if you have direct knowledge of their work and please don't nominate yourself.

As part of the nomination process, write a short summary explaining why the person should win an 'All about you' award making particular reference to the category that you are nominating them in.

Follow these hints and tips to make yours a winning nomination.

Catering Service Operative What happens to nominations?  

Managers will be notified when a nomination has been received for a member of their team and need to agree that they are happy for the nomination to go forward.

For each quarterly award category, a shortlist of four goes forward to the next stage and a judging panel of county council representatives decides who the final winners are.

All quarterly award winners automatically go through to the annual awards final. The overall awards winners are then be chosen by the Corporate Management Management Team and Leader of the county council.  

Engineer Prizes 

Quarterly winners receive £50 worth of vouchers and a certificate. If more than one individual is nominated for an individual award, the money will be split between the team. The winning quarterly teams receive £200 worth of vouchers to put towards something that the whole team can share. This could be a fun team event, a team lunch, some food goodies or whatever else they choose.

All quarterly winners will also be invited to the annual 'All about you' awards celebration event, held in 2010.   

Overall category winners will receive a trophy recognising their outstanding achievement.

All quarterly winners will be listed on the All about you intranet pages and in other internal publications whether it's directorate updates or on the intranet.

Overall annual winners are published on the intranet and web with a press release issued to local media about their success. They are also put forward for the Local Government Channel Council Worker of the Year awards. In 2009 Julie Moulds, who won the overall Environment All about you award, was shortlisted as a finalist in the Local Government Council Work of the Year awards.
