Phase Change: Page Anchor
Many qualified teachers find once they have been teaching for a period of time that they may be more suited to teaching another school phase, whether this be going from Primary to Secondary or vice versa.

Once you have gained Qualified Teacher Status you are eligible to teach any age group.

You are not required to do any additional training though you may find that attending a conversion course will update your skills/ knowledge therefore enhancing your chances of gaining a new position. Courses are available at a number of universities, contact those in your area for further information.

We would also recommend that you gain work experience within the new phase and research the area you require to work to enable you to update your knowledge and ways of working. Please contact schools in Staffordshire directly to gain work experience.

Returning to teaching: Page Anchor
Good news if you're thinking about getting back into teaching. You may find it's easier to return than you think. If you've been away for a while, rates of pay may come as a pleasant surprise. We realise that you may feel you need to polish up your skills before you're ready to stand in front of a class. Relax. There are several sponsored returners' courses available local to you.

All courses include a supported school placement as well as taught sessions on topics such as the National Curriculum, the National Strategies and ICT.

Courses are free, although there may be a refundable deposit to pay, and you will receive a weekly bursary of £150 for the duration of the course, up to a maximum of £1,500.
